- U.S. Midwest precipitation will continue lighter than usual over the next ten days, although mild temperatures early this week will conserve soil moisture for a little while
- Ridge building is expected over a part of the U.S. Plains and western Corn Belt during the second week of the outlook which may warm temperatures and keep rainfall lighter than usual
- Tropical Cyclone Biparjoy may bring rain to Gujarat and Rajasthan later this week and that could prove to be helpful to get cotton, rice and groundnut planting under way to help head off the potential for early withdrawing monsoonal rain late this summer
- Rainfall elsewhere in India will continue much lighter than usual
- China dryness may expand to the southwest from interior eastern Inner Mongolia over the balance of June
- Western Thailand rice, corn and some sugarcane areas are missing rain routinely and are still drier than usual
- Rain in northern and eastern Europe will come slowly during the next two weeks and some crop moisture stress is likely in the drier areas this week as temperatures continue warmer than usual while rainfall is restricted

- NOAA’s ENSO models have been reducing the intensity of El Nino in the fourth quarter this year relative to previous forecasts

WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR JUNE 09, 2023
- High pressure will remain aloft over central Canada’s Prairies and influence a part of the U.S. Northern Plains and Upper Midwest this weekend through mid-week next week limiting rainfall and allowing for warmer than usual temperatures
- The Canada high pressure ridge aloft will break down during mid- to late-week next week raising the potential for rain to develop in the western and central parts of the Prairies
- U.S. Midwest rainfall advertised for the next ten days will be light enough to maintain some concern over long term soil moisture and year enough precipitation will occur to benefit some of the crops in the region
- Cooler weather this weekend and early next week in U.S. Midwest will reduce crop moisture stress, although until significant rain falls there will be some ongoing concern over long term crop development potential
- A favorable mix of weather will occur in the U.S. Delta, southeastern states and central Plains
- West Texas cotton, corn and sorghum areas will experience limited rainfall for a while and some drying is expected to support fieldwork
- Eastern Russia’s New Lands and Kazakhstan will receive “some” rain in the coming ten days to ease long term dryness, but greater rain may still be needed
- Northwestern Europe (i.e. the U.K., France and some neighboring areas) will get rain this weekend with a limited number of showers next week

WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR JUNE 08, 2023
- Rain is expected in the U.S. Midwest starting in the west this weekend and then advancing to the east next week
- Be cautious here…..the Gulf of Mexico is still not open as a good moisture source and the abundant rain seen in the GFS model will not likely verify
- The European model has the best forecast through day ten
- U.S. wheat production areas in the central Plains will continue to receive frequent rain, but there has not been much of a threat to grain quality with the most recent precipitation events; nonetheless, there is potential for quality declines again if it rains too frequently
- Eastern Alberta, Canada is still suffering from serious crop moisture stress
- Computer forecast models do not agree on when it will rain and how much
- World Weather, Inc. believes some rain will begin falling in the second half of this month and it will not likely be a fix all for crop development until later in the summer after atmospheric moisture is better than it will be in late June
- United Kingdom and France will get rain this weekend and then go back to a dry biased pattern for a little while longer
- The Baltic Plain and Scandinavia will continue to have the driest conditions over the next ten days with more crop moisture stress likely before rain finally evolves after June 18

- A little too much rain was removed, but relief is still anticipated through the middle part of this month occurring as both cooler temperatures and occasional rain

- India’s monsoon will not perform well for another week and probably ten days with well below normal rainfall in the south and eastern parts of the nation.

WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR JUNE 7, 2023
- Cooler temperatures in U.S. crop areas of the Midwest during the coming week will help conserve soil moisture, although anticipated rainfall will be restricted
- Most areas will get “some” rain, but a general soaking will elude the key production areas
- The environment will help keep crops viable, but in need of more rain
- Drought in eastern and southern Alberta and some neighboring areas of western Saskatchewan continues and is not likely to be seriously eased for a while, but the high pressure ridge over the heart of Canada’s Prairies is expected to abate this weekend and next week which will raise the potential for rain in the driest areas, but there is no guarantee that enough rain will fall to begin supporting crops better
- Northern Europe is still quite dry and the Baltic Sea region is not likely to see much rain for another week; some rain is expected in the North Sea region, especially in the U.K. and parts of northern France within the next week
- Eastern Russia New Lands and neighboring Kazakhstan will receive some needed shower and thunderstorm activity in this coming week and the rain distribution will have to be closely monitored because of the potential for erratic rainfall and only partial relief from dryness
- India’s monsoon will continue to perform poorly because of a tropical cyclone in the Arabian Sea disrupting the normal southwest monsoon flow that brings rain to the nation. This problem will continue for another five to six days
- Northeast and southern China will remain plenty wet over the next ten days while some drying occurs in the Yellow River basin and North China Plain
- Australia weather will remain largely good as it will be in Brazil; Rain is needed in Argentina especially in the west

- A full restoration of soil moisture is not likely and many areas will remain on a path for below average rainfall this month, but the timely rain and cooling should benefit many crops
- Less rain is expected in West Texas cotton, corn, sorghum and peanut production areas during the next ten days, although it will not be dry

- Some increase in rain and cooling is possible in the second week of the forecast
