WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR AUGUST 6, 2023
- Timely rain is still expected in the U.S. key crop areas for the next ten days; including the Midwest, central and northeastern Plains, Delta and southeastern states
- Texas will continue quite dry and warm to hot south of the Red River during the next ten days
- Canada’s Prairies will get some rain during mid-week this week from east-central Alberta through west-central and northwestern Saskatchewan to southwestern Manitoba, although amounts will be light
- No drought relief is expected in the southwestern Prairies of Canada for at least ten days
- No drought relief in western Argentina for the next ten days to two weeks
- Southernmost Brazil, Uruguay and eastern most Argentina will get rain periodically over the next ten days
- Safrinha corn and cotton harvesting in Brazil will advance swiftly next ten days with no rain likely
- China will continue plenty moist with some heavy rain likely in the west and south part of crop areas east of Tibet
- Tropical Storm Khanun will move through the eastern Korean Peninsula from south to north during mid-week this week producing torrential rain
- Remnants of the storm may eventually reach northeastern China producing heavy rain there late this week
- East-central China may be dry for a while this week as the tropical cyclone moves through the Korean Peninsula
- Southern Australia will continue to receive periods of rain this week while northern areas are dry biased
- Central and northeastern Europe, central and western Ukraine and western Russia will receive bouts of rain this week continuing a slow harvest pace for winter small grains
- France and most of southern Europe will be drier biased this week
- No tropical systems are expected to develop in the Atlantic Ocean Basin this week
- Tropical Storm Eugene has formed south southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico and will move away from land this week while slowly weakening
- India’s western rainfall will continue lighter than usual this week
