WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR NOVEMBER 5, 2023
- Central Mato Grosso and central Minas Gerais reported locally heavy rainfall Friday into Saturday while other center west and center south crop areas reported scattered showers and thunderstorms of light to moderate intensity
- All of the rain was welcome and good in easing dryness, but some areas received much less rain than other areas
- Southern Brazil experienced drier weather during the weekend, but waves of rain will be returning later this week
- Center west and center south Brazil rainfall is expected to be erratic and lighter than usual during the next ten days while temperatures are warm
- Argentina will see a good mix of rain and sunshine during the next two weeks (especially in the central and east) while temperatures are seasonable
- East-central Australia rainfall in the coming week to ten days will be good for dryland sorghum, cotton and other crops that may be planted soon in the wetter areas
- Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria may get some rain in the next ten days, though that in the west will come too late to change winter crop production potentials
- Andhra Pradesh, India received some welcome rain during the weekend easing long term dryness and more rain is expected this week along with other areas in southern India
- Good harvest weather is likely elsewhere in India
- Europe and the western CIS will be wet biased for much of the next ten days to two weeks bolstering soil moisture for crop use in 2024
- North Africa still needs rain and will only see some coastal showers this week
- South Africa will receive some welcome rain in summer crop areas to help improve planting potentials
- China weather will remain mostly good for rapeseed and winter wheat with rain moving through some of the driest areas early this week
- Heavy snow will fall from Liaoning to Heilongjiang, China through Monday causing travel delays and livestock stress
- U.S. Midwest and hard red winter wheat areas will be drier biased over the coming week to ten days
- A brief period of rain is expected in Texas, the Delta and southeastern states later this week, but the impact on harvesting will be light since it will not last long
- No tropical cyclones are threatening land in the world today
