WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR AUGUST 9, 2023
- Western and southern India will continue to dry out over the next ten days to two weeks firming the soil in many areas and raising the need for late August and early September rain
- Most of India still has favorable soil moisture today except in the far south where it is dry
- South and North Korea will receive 4.00 to more than 9.00 inches of rain over the next few days from Tropical Storm Khanun as it moves northward through the heart of the Peninsula
- Northeastern China will get some rain from the dissipated Tropical Storm Khanun this weekend, but little to no new crop damage is expected following recent past flood events
- East-central China will continue to dry down for several more days
- Southern Australia will continue to receive periods of rain while northern agricultural areas are left in a net drying mode
- Rain may return to central and northern Europe during the middle to latter part of next week, but net drying is expected until then
- Drying will continue from Russia’s Southern Region and some eastern Ukraine locations into northwestern Kazakhstan and the southern Ural Mountains region during the coming ten days
- Temperatures will continue warmer than usual as well
- Canada’s southwestern Prairies are still expecting dry or net drying conditions for the next ten days while rain falls in the far western, northern and eastern portions of the region
- U.S. weather will be well mixed with rain and sunshine in the coming week – at least in the Midwest, Delta and southeastern states
- U.S. weather in the August 17-23 period will trend a little drier and warmer in the central and eastern portions of the nation
- Texas rainfall will continue minimal south of the Red River for another Ten days and temperatures will be warm to hot
- U.S. Northwestern Plains and Pacific Northwest will remain dry biased for the next ten days to two weeks
- A new round of hot weather is expected in the western United States next week
- No changes in Mexico or Argentina’s drought will occur for at least the next ten days to two weeks
- Brazil weather will remain favorable for most crop and farming needs.
- Dryness will continue in portions of western Thailand for another ten days
- Indonesia and Malaysia weather will trend a little wetter for a while
