WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR JULY 27, 2023
- Not many changes occurred overnight
- Rain fell in southern Michigan, northern Indiana and northwestern Ohio significantly benefiting crops in that area
- Northwestern U.S. Corn and Soybean Belt will have a tough time getting significant rain to fall for a while, although some showers are expected
- Southwestern U.S. Corn and Soybean Belt and Delta will be hot over the next five days keeping evaporation rates high and inducing new crop stress
- Rain during the August 3-9 period should increase in the lower Midwest and eventually in the Delta to offer some relief from recent dry and hot weather
- Upper U.S. Midwest rainfall may not increase as much during the August 3-9 period, although temperatures should cool down a bit
- Texas and portions of Oklahoma will stay hot and dry for another week
- No changes in Canada’s drought status is expected, despite less excessive heat in the coming ten days
- Mexico’s drought remains serious in the northeast half of the nation
- Europe’s weather is still expected to trend wetter especially in the north and east for a while in the coming ten days which may disrupt some harvest progress
- Western and northern Russia, Ukraine and Belarus will be plenty moist for a while possibly slowing harvest progress
- Russia’s Southern Region, Kazakhstan and southeastern Russia’s New Lands will experience net drying and warm to hot weather over the coming ten days
- No serious changes are expected in China or India during the coming week, but India’s week 2 and week 3 weather is expected to trend drier
- Australia weather will continue wettest in the south during the coming two weeks leaving need for moisture in the north
- Typhoon Doksuri will reach Fujian China Friday as a weak typhoon
- Tropical Depression 06W has formed west of Guam and will become a typhoon in a few days and may threaten Zhejiang and Shanghai, China next week
- Tropical disturbance in eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean may become a tropical cyclone during the weekend or next week, but its track should be over open water in the Atlantic Ocean
- Indonesia and Malaysia rainfall will be lighter than usual for a while leading to the firming of topsoil
- West Central Africa is expected to see drying conditions after recent wet weather in Ghana and southeastern Ivory Coast
