WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR OCTOBER 2, 2023
- Rain will fall in the eastern Canada Prairies during mid-week this week after occurring in the west during the weekend
- The moisture will raise soil moisture for crop use in the spring
- U.S. Midwest and Great Plains rainfall this week will be brief enough to benefit some winter crop areas with improved soil moisture and then return favorable harvest weather with dry conditions resuming
- Frost and freezes will impact Canada’s Prairies and the northern U.S. Plains and upper Midwest during mid- to late-week this week
- U.S. Delta and southeastern states will be dry for the next week to possibly ten days
- Argentina weather will continue poor for western winter crop areas where dryness will prevail, despite some showers this week
- Interior southern Brazil will turn wet during the middle to latter part of this week through next week with some rising potential for flooding once again in time
- Center west Brazil rainfall will be erratic, although beneficial for some crops and less so for others
- Center South Brazil will be favorably moist for planting and early season crop development
- China weather will be mostly good for summer crop maturation and harvesting as well as winter wheat planting
- The exception will be form Shaanxi and Hubei through Sichuan to Yunnan where rain will fall frequently this week delaying farming activity
- India will be dry in the northwest half of the nation while rain falls in other areas
- Southeastern Australia rainfall is expected to be moderate to heavy from eastern Victoria to the heart of New South Wales Tuesday through Thursday
- Sufficient rain is expected in New South Wales to greatly improve winter wheat, barley and canola yields
- Central and southern Europe will be dry over the next week to ten days favoring fieldwork, but rain is needed for winter crops
- Typhoon Koinu threatens southern Taiwan with excessive rain and strong wind speeds later this week
