It is designed to discuss all of the most important weather-related issues of the day and will help explain how those weather issues will influence production and help the listener make better business decisions whether in the commodity futures market or out of it.

WORLD WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS FOR MARCH 11, 2024
- Brazil’s center west and interior south is still drier today than on Friday for the first ten days of the outlook, but no change from that of Sunday
- Crop moisture stress will be on the rise into late month
- Areas included will be Mato Grosso do Sul, southern Mato Grosso, northwestern Parana and western Sao Paulo
- Southern Minas Gerais and eastern Sao Paulo will also be dry biased, although they are wetter to begin with and should not dry out enough to seriously stress crops – at least not for a while
- Brazil’s drier areas in the interior south and southwest are advertised to trend wetter during days 11-15 on most of the model runs today, although World Weather, Inc. is a little skeptical about some of the advertised amounts
- Uruguay and some neighboring areas of east-central Argentina are still advertised to trend excessively wet by this time next week due to multiple waves of significant rain that are expected
- Rain totals of 4.00 to 8.00 inches will be common with a few greater amounts especially when next week’s rain is included
- Crop damage is possible in low-lying areas, mostly in Uruguay
- Far southern and western Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil will also be caught up in the heavy rain event with possible damage to maturing rice and rice that is being harvested
- Northern U.S. Plains precipitation is still advertised to be restricted during the next ten days, although brief shots of cooling will induce a little moisture
- Colorado and immediate neighboring areas will receive snow and rain Wednesday into Saturday raising soil moisture and easing long term dryness
- Other areas in U.S. hard red winter wheat country will get some moisture over the coming week, but the heart of wheat country will be left with a restricted amount of moisture
- West Texas and South Texas still do not receive much moisture over the next ten days and the same is true for much of Mexico, although a few showers are expected
- S. central and eastern Midwest received rain during the weekend and will receive more periodically in the next ten days maintaining favorable soil moisture from southeastern Iowa and Missouri to Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio
- Lower U.S. Delta and southeastern states will be wet at times in the next ten days to two weeks as additional waves of rain fall after some hefty rain occurred during the weekend
- Some early season planting delay should be expected
- Canada’s Prairies continue to see restricted precipitation through day ten of the forecast
- Europe and CIS weather should be favorably mixed over the next two weeks which may be good for the start of spring crop development and fieldwork
- China is a little wetter in the second week of the forecast in the Yangtze River Basin, North China Plain, Yellow River Basin and northeastern provinces next week, although some of the precipitation may be overdone
- No changes in India or Australia’s forecast relative to Friday was noted today
- South Africa precipitation will also remain restricted
- Indonesia rainfall will be greatest in the south where local flooding is possible early this week and then some decrease in precipitation is expected late this week into next week
- Mainland Southeast Asia rainfall is expected to slowly increase next week and into late month
- Western and some central Philippines crop areas will continue to dry down along with peninsular Malaysia
- Timely rainfall will return to west-central Africa later this week benefitting coffee, cocoa, sugarcane and rice
- North Africa rainfall will be limited in the next ten days along with southern Spain
- Southern Spain received significant rain during the weekend.
